COMMUNITY SERVICE

Mary Yoder poses with the Exchange Club

Exchange Clubs works in conjunction with local organizations to focus their efforts where their communities' needs are the greatest. We have devoted countless hours sponsoring cultural programs and other events and have provided millions of dollars for scholarships, equipment and other needs, all for the benefit or improvement of our communities.

At the Exchange Club of West Chester some of our Community Service activities include:

Adopt a Highway - This activity involves keeping a 2-mile section of a major highway clean, and we have done it for years.

Family Center LogoThe Exchange Club Family Center -- The Family Center's mission is to prevent instances of child abuse and neglect in Chester County through education and community awareness, while promoting the well being of families and individuals. It works in concert with all Exchange Clubs across the country in this endeavor by recruiting and training volunteer parent aides who work directly with families dealing with those issues.

Salvation Army Support - Prior to each Thanksgiving the community's service clubs, including Exchange, perform an extensive food drive throughout the West Chester area which includes, but is not limited to, meat, fish, pasta & pasta sauce, canned vegetables, juice and paper products. The purpose of the drive is to stock the Salvation Army's food pantry and to provide food to needy families during the holiday season and throughout the coming year.

In addition, members from Exchange and other area civic and church organizations volunteer as bell ringers in support of the Salvation Army's end-of-the-year kettle fund raising efforts. This bell ringing campaign provides more than half of the Salvation Army's annual budget, by funding programs such as support shelters, meals, toys, after school activities and emergency assistance.
