The
Exchange Club of West Chester was formed in 1946 by residents
whose wish was to enjoy each other's fellowship and exchange ideas and
information about how to improve our community. We were chartered by
the National
Exchange Club, which, since 1911, is the longest-standing, solely-American
service organization, currently comprising 800 such clubs in the United
States and Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. We adhere to the principles
of the National Exchange Club, and our key programs of service reflect
Child Abuse Prevention, Americanism,
Service to Youth and Community
Service.
Club membership is a cross section of our community and includes individuals
from many disciplines - physicians, retailers, retirees, etc. Our club
is administered by our Officers and a Board of Directors, all of whom
function within the bylaws and rules of the National Exchange Club.
We have several Committees whose purposes
are to direct projects and activities within the club. Financial support
of all projects we undertake comes from Fundraisers,
and all projects are performed by club members so that individual interests
and talents can be fully utilized.
Club meetings are held each Thursday, with the first Thursday of each month reserved for members-only business meetings. Except for special occasions, we meet at the West Chester Golf & Country Club (111 W. Ashbridge St., between High and New streets) at 6:30 p.m. for dinner, which is followed by a club meeting and (usually) a speaker on one of a wide variety of topics.
If you think you might like to learn more about Exchange, please contact
us. We'd like you to be our guest for dinner on a Thursday night
convenient to you.
